Fleetwood machine company lands loan for expansion; to hire seven skilled tradespeople

Levan Machine Co. of Fleetwood was approved for a $449,723 loan from the Pennsylvania Industrial Development Authority to help with its expansion.

LMC plans to construct a new $850,000 building at 3404 Pricetown Road that will include six bays for truck work and office and storage space. The 8,360 square-foot building will be across the street from the company’s facility.

Founded in 1936, LMC does truck up-fits, fabricating and installing custom trucks bodies. The company also builds snowplows, spreaders, lift gates and central hydraulic systems.

Industrial machine repairs comprise a large part of the company’s business, said Brian Levan, president of LMC.

Levan said his company is meeting a growing need of factory owners who want their broken equipment repaired rather than wait more than six weeks to replace it with a new, more expensive piece.

“We’re filling a demand that wasn’t being met,” Levan said.

He said his company will hire seven new skilled trade laborers as a result of its growth.

DESCCO Design and Construction of Fleetwood is the builder. The project is expected to be completed by the end of March.

The Greater Berks Development Fund assisted in securing the loan.
