Atlantic City is on a roll, as another casino has
announced it would be injecting millions of dollars aimed at improving its
property.
Tropicana Casino announced Thursday it would be doing $25
million worth of renovations to its property.
“At Tropicana, we never stop improving the visitor
experience," General Manager Steve Callender said in a statement. "We
are actively engaged in finding ways to rethink, renovate and revitalize every
touch point for the benefit of our guests."
A significant portion of the funds will go toward the
renovation of 500 hotel rooms at The Trop's Havana Tower to include new
carpeting, textured wall coverings, and "spa-inspired" bathrooms with
large walk-in showers and modern artwork, the casino announced.
Plans also include the renovation of the South Tower
casino to match the North Tower casino’s "modern and upscale décor
upgrades;" the addition of a new high-limit slot area located off Palm
Walk; and cosmetic upgrades to Asian gaming room Jade Palace.
Five shows – all new – are also set to debut on
Tropicana’s Multimedia Light and Sound Show on the boardwalk this summer.
Construction began this month and is slated to be
complete in May this year.
The renovations announced come a year after the casino's
$50 million property-wide upgrade that included renovations to the North
Tower's hotel rooms, and the construction of the new AtlantiCare LifeCenter
Fitness, new retail spaces and a media façade on the Boardwalk.
“We are committed to delivering on our promise to offer
more to our guests and more to the City of Atlantic City," Tony Rodio,
president and CEO of Tropicana Entertainment, said in a statement. "Tropicana
recognizes the importance of continuing to invest in both our gaming and
non-gaming amenities."
Rodio added: "These renovations are not only
attractive upgrades for Tropicana’s guests, they are creating new employment
opportunities at a crucial time in Atlantic City."
The Trop is the second Atlantic City property to make
announcements in two days about property-wide renovations. Borgata Hotel Casino
& Spa on Wednesday said it would be investing $50 million on property
upgrades and additions this year.
