Megrant Corp. alleged to owe contributions to Steamfitters Union funds

PHILADELPHIA – Several labor union funds allege that a West Babylon, New York, employer failed to pay contributions on behalf of its employees.

Steamfitters Union, Local 420 Welfare Fund; Steamfitters Union, Local 420 Pension Fund; Steamfitters Union, Local 420 Supplemental Retirement Plan; et al. filed a complaint on July 17 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Megrant Corp., Farid Mirian and Jasmine Mirian alleging violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act and the Labor Management Relations Act.

According to the complaint, the plaintiffs allege that they were damaged due to unpaid and late-paid contributions. The plaintiffs hold Megrant Corp., Farid Mirian and Jasmine Mirian responsible because the defendant allegedly failed to pay their monthly contribution to the plaintiff.

The plaintiffs seek judgment against the defendant, interest, liquidated damages, court costs and any further relief the court grants. They are represented by William T. Josem and Jeremy E. Meyer of Cleary, Josem & Trigiani LLP in Philadelphia.
