PHILADELPHIA — A labor union is suing Torrado Construction Co. Inc. of Philadelphia, alleging the firm failed to pay benefits owed to various union funds.
The International Union of Painters and Allied Trades District Council No. 21 filed a complaint on June 16 in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania against Torrado, alleging that the company failed to remit its contribution to the union funds dealing with health and welfare, annuities, vacations and scholarships. The plaintiff is alleging breach of contract and violation of the Employee Retirement Income Security Act.
The plaintiffs seek the amount of $9,877.27, $16,800 in court costs, interest at the rate of 5 percent and any further relief the court grants. They are represented by Martin W. Milz and Syretta Jasmine Martin of Spear Wilderman P.C. in Philadelphia.
