The Chester County-based e-commerce company – the
brainchild of two brothers – is spending $7.9 million overhauling a Tredyffrin
Township facility, an investment that will create a new headquarters and pave
the way for hiring nearly 200 people over the next three years.
Turn5 operates two separately branded sites that each
offer auto parks for niche markets of the car industry – AmericanMuscle.com and
ExtremeTerrain.com.
Founded by Steve and Andrew Voudouris in their family's
home about 15 years ago, Turn5 announced just last month the completion of a
17,000-square-foot addition to one of two of its existing spaces.
Now, along with the expansion at 1 Lee Blvd in Malvern,
Pa, Turn5 is spending millions on 600 Cedar Hollow Road, Tredyffrin Township –
where it will relocate about 160 of its employees from its building at 7 Lee
Blvd. Its customer service staff will continue to operate out of 1 Lee Blvd.
Turn5 announced it was adding 50 new staff members to its
customer service side when the 1 Lee Blvd. project finished in February. On
Thursday, the company said those hires will be part of its plans to add 183 new
full-time employees to its workforce over the next three years.
“Andrew and I started our business in southeastern
Pennsylvania—in our parents’ garage in fact—and we’ve been proud to grow here
over the last 15 years,” said Steve Voudouris in a statement. “We look forward
to bringing more jobs and more economic development to the region as we
continue to serve the auto enthusiast market with our phenomenal team.”
The locally born and bred e-commerce firm, which already
employs 430, received a funding proposal from the state's Department of
Community and Economic Development that includes a $200,000 Pennsylvania First
Program grant, $45,000 in WednetPA funding for employee training, and $366,000
in Job Creation Tax Credits, according to the Governor's Office.
That money will be distributed upon the creation of the
jobs. Turn5 already starting recruiting its new workers, and told the state it
is committed to the retention of at least 301 employees along with its job
creation promise.
