A
Franklin County manufacturer will consolidate an out-of-state site into its
local operation, bringing 250 new jobs over the next three years.
In
doing so, Manitowoc Cranes LLC will expand its presence in
Antrim Township, Gov. Tom Wolf's office said Tuesday.
The
company currently employs 891 people in Pennsylvania. The operations being
relocated are in Manitowoc, Wis.
"Manitowoc
is committed to the community in Franklin County and understands that this is
the best location to grow its business and make impactful investments within
the region and beyond," Wolf said.
Manitowoc
has committed to an investment of at least $19 million in the project, which
consists of relocation and the purchase of equipment to support new product
lines.
"After
a comprehensive analysis and review of our current manufacturing footprint,
coupled with current market conditions, we believe this restructuring
initiative will ensure that our business continues to meet and exceed the needs
of our customers every day," company President and CEO Barry Pennypacker
said.
The
move will be aided by a $1.35 million Pennsylvania First program grant offered
through the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development. The
project was coordinated by the Governor’s Action Team, in collaboration with
the Franklin County Area Development Corporation.
"Today's
decision stands to have very favorable long-term impacts on our local
manufacturing economy," said Mike Ross, president of the Franklin County
development agency.
