FBI agents search IBEW's John Dougherty's house, Councilman Henon's office

Numerous FBI agents searched the house of Philadelphia's most powerful union leader, electricians' chief John Dougherty, on Friday morning, as part of "an ongoing investigation."

The FBI also said agents searched Philadelphia Councilman Bobby Henon's offices at City Hall and in Northeast Philadelphia in connection with the same investigation. Henon is a former IBEW Local 98 electrician before being elected to Council in 2011 with the support of Dougherty. This year, he took over as Council majority leader.

The FBI said federal agents also are searching the Spring Garden Street union hall of the International Brotherhood of Electricians local and Dougherty's pub in the 1800 block of South Second Street called Doc's Union Pub.

In all, seven properties were being searched in connection with the investigation Friday morning.

Dougherty, 56, paced outside his house in the 1800 block of East Moyamensing Avenue shortly after 9 a.m. and declined to discuss what the agents were doing inside.

His attorney, Hank Hockeimer of Ballard Spahr, has been with Dougherty outside his house all morning. He would not comment.

He did say "nothing has changed inside the house since the last time 10 years ago."
