Public presentation to detail project timetable, layout and design of new $52.9 million Newtown Middle School

NEWTOWN >> The Council Rock School District will hold a public presentation detailing the new Newtown Middle School construction project on Monday, May 2 beginning at 6:30 p.m. in the school’s auditorium.

Ground is scheduled to be broken this spring on the new $52.9 million building, which will be built next to the existing school on Green Lane. When the new building is completed, the existing school will be torn down and replaced with athletic fields.

Doug Taylor, the director of operational services for the district, and representatives from D’Huy Engineering, the construction engineering firm on the project, will be on hand to discuss the project details, including the layout and design of the new building and the surrounding campus, ameneties and projected timetables.

“While the evening is designed specifically to share information with parents, all members of the Council Rock community are invited to attend,” according to a district posting.

Redistricting decisions will not be made until closer to the 2018-19 school year when the new Newtown Middle School and the renovated Holland Middle School in Northampton Township open their doors.
