Kennedy 'topping off' first phase of $200M Cherry Hill hospital renovation

Kennedy Health System is hosting a topping off ceremony Monday for the first phase of its $200 million renovation of Kennedy University Hospital-Cherry Hill.

During the ceremony, which begins at 11 a.m., the final beam on the new atrium lobby will be put in place.

The first phase of the project at the Cherry Hill medical center, which opened in 1960, is expected to cost $65 million and be completed next spring.

The first phase includes the construction of:

a 22,000-square foot atrium lobby that will serve both the hospital and the new outpatient pavilion, and feature a gift shop, café, and conference rooms;
a 102,000-square foot outpatient pavilion, which will add more ambulatory services to the campus along with private specialty doctors’ offices; and
an enclosed, free parking facility that will consolidate existing ground parking, add an additional 600 covered parking spaces, increase “green space” on the campus, and improve traffic flow.

The “medical mall” being created in the outpatient pavilion will house physician practices plus an ambulatory surgical center, medical imaging and laboratory services, rehabilitation services, a sleep and balance center, and a hyperbaric wound center.

The second phase of the campus revitalization, set to begin in late 2017, will be the construction of a new acute-care hospital with all private patient rooms.

Kennedy Health, which also has South Jersey campuses in Stratford and Washington Township and outpatient facilities throughout Camden and Gloucester counties, is i n the process of joining Jefferson Health.
