Memorial Hospital construction is still anticipated to
start this spring in York County, with just a few approvals remaining,
according to spokesman Jason McSherry.
The hospital already has conditional approval from West
Manchester Township for its plans to build a $120 million facility, according
to Monica Love, township zoning officer.
Once the final conditions are met, construction can
begin.
Specific details on the remaining conditions were not
immediately available, although the township confirmed today that it did have a
meeting with the hospital last week to review them.
Memorial Hospital is proposing a 220,000-square-foot
hospital with four floors and 102 beds to replace its current facility.
There are still no plans as to what will happen with the
current Spring Garden Township-based hospital once it is vacated, McSherry
said.
The new hospital is slated to be built on land that once
housed the Hawk Lake Golf Course, which was purchased by Memorial Health
Systems in 2008.
Memorial Hospital was bought by for-profit
Tennessee-based Community Health Systems Inc. in 2012.
