KENNETT TOWNSHIP A $10 million mixed-use development in
Kennett Township and Kennett Square is scheduled to break ground in the summer.
The development, made up of four buildings, will sit on
3.9 acres in Kennett Township and 1.3 acres in Kennett Square Borough. The
development will include 13 apartments, about 11,000 square feet of retail
space, 6,700 square feet of office space, and space for a restaurant.
Township and borough officials signed an
intergovernmental cooperation agreement a year ago to let the developer build
on the properties as one project, so it did not need separate approvals.
The project addresses needs for housing and space for new
businesses, said Scudder Stevens, chair of Kennett Township’s board of
supervisors.
The new development will be adjacent to Magnolia Place, a
recently opened luxury residential complex that also houses a Victory Brewing
Co. brewpub. “We’ve been watching Kennett grow,” said Michael Pia Jr., vice
president at Kennett Square Realty, the developer. “There’s a ton of momentum.”
The developer has gotten offers to fill the space and
hopes the property will be fully leased in time for the groundbreaking. —
