Hahnemann University Hospital nurses voted to join the state's largest nurses union.

Clearly one of the region’s higher stakes organizing campaigns by local union’s with management being accused of reusing “Nasty Old Cookies” to make their argument.  Rumor has it that some local political officials were passively participating in the union’s organizing effort.
The Center City Philadelphia's registered nurses voted 516 to 117 to join the Pennsylvania Association of Staff Nurses and Allied Professionals.

The election was conducted Tuesday and Wednesday by the National Labor Relations Board. PASNAP will represent approximately 850 Hahnemann nurses.

“We wanted to get back to the foundations of nursing,” said Mike Winn, a registered nurse in the hospital's emergency department. “It should be about patients, not profits or shareholders."

Hahnemann University Hospital is owned by Tenet Healthcare Corp. (NYSE: THC), a publicly traded hospital management company based in Dallas, Texas. Representatives at Hahnemann were not immediately available for comment.

The 330 nurses at Delaware County Memorial Hospital in Drexel Hill, Pa., voted to join PASNAP on Saturday.

The 450 nurses at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in North Philadelphia are in the process of voting on whether to be represented by PASNAP. St. Christopher's is also owned by Tenet.
