Atlantic City's most successful casino has announced it
has big plans for 2016, $50 million worth of plans.
Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa on Wednesday
announced it would be injecting more than $50 million into its property this
year across a number of projects, including a new dining experience, a $14 million entertainment facility,
25,000 square feet of meeting and convention space, a new quick-service eatery
and an outdoor pool.
Borgata has been heavily investing in its property for
some time now.
Last summer, Borgata opened its $14 million outdoor Borgata Festival Park, headed by Josh Held, and announced last month the
18,000-square-foot Premier Nightclub set for a spring debut.
Borgata isn't stopping there; it will also be adding an
outdoor pool in the festival grounds area to include 400 chaise lounges,
daybeds and cabanas complete with a full-service bar, entertainment stage, and
lawn games and activities all centered around a 3,200-square-foot Roman-style
pool.
The space will be able to hold 1,000 people.
In addition to the outdoor pool, Borgata will also be
partnering with restaurateur and real estate developer George Siganos to debut The Marketplace Eatery, a
casual "dining experience" located below Borgata’s poker room and
betting area, The Racebook.
The quick-service Marketplace Eatery will replace The
Cafeteria, and will offer sandwiches, wraps, salads, and Mexican, Asian and
Italian cuisine.
Further, Borgata will also be adding a 25,000-square-foot
conference space to accommodate more meetings and conventions.
The space will have two levels and will include a
7,000-square-foot ballroom, four meeting rooms, one board room, one office and
a pre-function area on each level.
The conference space is slated to open in the fourth
quarter of this year.
“The constant reinvention of our business has been a core
principal since entering the market in 2003, and we are pleased to continue
developing the type of engaging product that our customers have come to
anticipate and expect," President and COO Tom Ballance said in a
statement.
“Not only are we debuting a brand new nightclub, restaurant,
and outdoor pool, we are spending an additional $12.5 million in maintenance
capital annually," Joe Lupo, senior vice president of operations, said in
a statement.
An update to Borgata's B Bar and Boot N' Whip Racebook
bar and other dining areas are also included in the $12.5 million. An
additional $2.5 million will be dedicated to original and exclusive slot
product, according to Borgata.
Borgata last month announced it would be partnering with
Chef Michael Symon who will debut an Italian restaurant later this
fall .
