Manchester Township-based Wagman Construction Inc. broke
ground this week on a $16 million senior-living project in Montgomery County.
Wagman is the general contractor for a "pocket
neighborhood" project at Frederick Living's The Meadows at Frederick
Living. It involves the construction of 27 duplex independent-living cottages.
The pocket design involves clustered groups of
neighboring houses gathered around a shared open space. The Meadows at
Frederick Living will share garden courtyard space along with pedestrian
streets.
Each cottage will feature geothermal heating and cooling,
with floor plans ranging from 1,200 to 1,700 square feet, according to Wagman.
Future residents will have the option of selecting front
or rear garages, as well as an optional second story.
The project is expected to take two years, according to
Wagman. Other local partners include Lancaster-based RGS Associates Inc. and
Lancaster-based Fulton Bank.
