Goldenberg Group selected to redevelop Logan Triangle

Ken Goldenberg has been selected to redevelop the long-vacant Logan Triangle with a mixed-use project of undisclosed dimensions and specifications.

The Triangle is a 40-acre sprawl of grass, trees and shrubs that used to be the site of hundreds of homes. Those homes, built on unstable soil, started sinking in the 1950s. Since the 1980s, the city has relocated former residents, and the Philadelphia Redevelopment Authority (PRA) has acquired all the vacant parcels through eminent domain.

Acting Atlantic City Fire Chief "very concerned" about Revel

The owner of Revel Casino Hotel violated fire code when he dismissed the property’s team of engineers and left the Boardwalk complex a soaring fire trap, Atlantic City’s acting fire chief said Wednesday.

A violation notice was delivered to the property Wednesday, acting Fire Chief Scott Evans said. The city will begin fining Glenn Straub’s Polo North Country Club Inc. if the company doesn’t obtain competent engineers today to oversee the property's emergency equipment, Evans said.

Proposed $125M Rittenhouse area hotel ditched for Hyatt

The plan to bring a $125 million boutique hotel in the Rittenhouse Square area has been dropped in order to bring another Hyatt product into Philadelphia's hotel market.

The property at 17th and Chancellor streets, previously set to become a 12-story, 300-room Hudson hotel project that was given the OK from the Center City Residents Association, or CCRA, has now been proposed to become a Hyatt Centric hotel.

A Hyatt hotel will be coming to 17th and Chancellor streets. Little Pete's, pictured, will have to relocate.

Old City apartment complex makes its debut

Alterra Property Group has completed its $22 million Shirt Corner apartment development in the Old City neighborhood of Philadelphia.

The 5-story project at 3rd and Market streets stands on the site of the former Shirt Corner, a retailer that had spent decades on the site.

Jury awards $20M against homebuilder

A $20 million verdict has been handed down against Pulte Homes and some of its affiliates involving the Applecross Country Club in Downingtown, Pa.

A jury in Chester County returned the verdict Monday after a trial.

NLRB puts employees on the spot

In a ruling that could make workplace investigations at unionized facilities all but impossible, the National Labor Relations Board (NLRB) reversed a 37-year-old precedent that protected employees from retaliation.  

Under the prior Anheuser-Busch standard, employers did not have to hand over witness statements, particularly from employees, to unions in discipline cases. If an employee witnessed something that could help a grievance investigation, the employer could ask for a statement and usually could promise that at least the statement itself would remain confidential.
