Queens construction workers hammer ‘piece of s---' Long Island City builder for shirking pledge to use union labor

A rowdy group of construction workers blasted a builder Tuesday for reneging on a vow to use union labor on a huge Queens project.

The workers, gathered at the Jackson Ave. site in Long Island City, leveled epithets at developer Jerry Wolkoff of G&M Reality, repeatedly chanting “piece of s---."

Their anger stems from a 2013 letter Wolkoff sent to Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer, D-Queens, saying it was his “intention” to build the huge apartment complex with union labor. Van Bramer called him a liar and said “I won’t work with him again.”

In an interview, Wolkoff noted that he merely said he “intended” to go union, but that a major subcontractor told him if he did, his costs would rise 20%.
