Philly labor unions promise not to picket or protest at DNC

Despite a previous battle with Pennsylvania Convention Center management, Philadelphia carpenters have promised not to strike, picket or protest during the Democratic National Convention in July.

A project-labor agreement was signed on June 3 by the DNC committee, Democratic Party officials, leaders of builders' unions, and Philadelphia's host committee, according to Philly.com.
The contract includes the convention and covers the Wells Fargo Center, where carpenters, stagehands and teamsters will build the stages and sets to host the Democratic convention July 25-28, according to the report.

President Barack Obama could soon be one of Hillary Clinton's strongest supporters.
Unions will also build and tear down sets at the Convention Center, where PoliticalFest and meetings will be held that week.

According to Philly.com, there was previously talk of union carpenters' picketing and protesting at the Convention Center during the DNC.

John Dougherty, who leads the Philadelphia Building Trades Council, issued the following statement, according to Philly.com:

"Several hundred of our highly trained tradesmen and tradeswomen will be working seamlessly and around the clock to put together this amazing show in just seven weeks. We will make Philadelphia and the DNC extremely proud."
