TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - Members of a second rail union have
rejected a tentative agreement with NJ Transit.
NJ.com reports (http://bit.ly/1TcUGBy ) that UTU Local
60, which represents conductors, voted Saturday to reject the offer that
averted a March 13 strike. Union officials didn't comment on the vote.
The New Jersey Transit Brotherhood of Locomotive
Engineers and Trainmen Friday announced its decision not to ratify a new
contract in a statement posted on its website.
NJ Transit spokeswoman Nancy Snyder says both
ratification votes failed by narrow margins. She says the transit agency is
disappointed by the rejections, but is "heartened" that 14 other
unions ratified their contracts.
Snyder says the two unions can request that negotiations
resume.
The nation's third-largest railroad serves 105,000
riders.
