Construction firm renovates building for district judge

Cityline Construction of Allentown is completing a $300,000 renovation of a former frame and art shop that will serve as the new office for Michael D’Amore, a magisterial district judge.

The property at 1007-1009 Union Blvd. in Allentown served as the Boulevard Frame and Art Shop for more than 30 years, said Thomas Williams Jr., director of real estate for Cityline Construction.

“The county had a need to have new magistrate space; this was the perfect building to put it in that district,” Williams said. “It is more Class-A type office space compared to most of the magistrate space in the county.”

Renovations include a newly refurbished façade, wiring, plumbing, heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, new roof and customization of woodwork cabinetry and upgraded counters. The office will include a handcrafted judge’s bench, created by Josh Masters, a carpenter on staff at Cityline.

Carpenters from Cityline also handcrafted bench seating in the waiting room by using an oak support beam.

Workers also installed regulation bulletproof riot glass in the reception area.

D’Amore plans to occupy the offices with a staff of five by April 1 and will move from 1801 Union Blvd., Suite 112.

Cityline bought the 4,200-square-foot property in October.
