Firm renovates suite in former LSI building

Jerdon Construction Services of Upper Macungie Township is renovating the second floor of a three-story office building at 555 Union Blvd. in Allentown that once served as the corporate headquarters for LSI.

This 26,000-square-foot fit-out includes a new elevator, elevator pit and shaft, offices, conference rooms and open areas to be used by a government agency, said Ron Jerdon, president. He declined to disclose an estimated construction cost or name of the agency that would be occupying the site.

The project will be completed in March and the agency is expected to move in April 1, he said.

The agency will be working with CareerLink Lehigh Valley, a local job placement agency inside the building, helping people get into the workforce, Jerdon said.

“There was some extensive demolition of partitions, some new partitions to make offices,” Jerdon said.

The construction firm is also making upgrades to the building’s heating, ventilation and air conditioning system, and plumbing and sprinkler system. The firm is also installing a new elevator in the center of the building.
