GMCS Commentary: I recently toured this facility with the President
and CEO of ABC –Keystone, Jack Zimmer. This
new facility is second to none and has the potential to become a benchmark for
measuring industry workforce development going forward. Most noteworthy is the fact that it was built
with the direct monetary, material and labor contributions of its extremely engaged
and motivated membership. From complete
classroom facilities, a BIM training facility to a comprehensive and enclosed
hands on job training center where project skills and site competency can be developed,
it will quickly become the training center for others to follow and a valuable
industry asset in our quest to train our incoming skilled labor force. This is a game changer for this chapter and
our industry. Congratulations to Jack Zimmer
and the entire ABC – Keystone Board of Directors on this noteworthy achievement.
The Keystone Chapter of Associated Builders and
Contractors Inc. will unveil its expanded headquarters in Rapho Township on
April 7.
ABC Keystone kicked off the $5.2 million project last May. The organization added 20,000 square feet and
renovated 11,000 square feet of existing space in its building in the Rapho
Business Park.
Nearly 50 members donated labor and materials to reduce
the chapter’s out-of-pocket costs to $3.8 million.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony will begin at 3 p.m.,
according to ABC. A showcase expo will follow.
