County workers in two units get new contracts from board
DOYLESTOWN The county commissioners voted Wednesday to
approve new contracts for about a quarter of the county's unionized employees,
according to officials.
The new deals, which have the same financial terms, will
affect about 420 workers in two unions, said County Commissioner Charles H.
Martin. They will provide a 5.5 percent raise by 2016, Martin said, and allow
the employees to join the county's health-care plan.
The two unions cover county prison workers and office
employees in row offices, Martin said.
In total, Bucks County employs just under 2,400 people,
Martin said, about 1,700 of whom are unionized.
The contracts approved Wednesday will replace deals with
those unions that expired in 2012, Martin said.
