PHILADELPHIA (AP) — Authorities say a seven-story building under construction at Temple University in Philadelphia has partially collapsed.
City Executive Fire Chief Richard Davison says one construction worker suffered non-life-threatening injuries on Thursday. He is hospitalized in stable condition.
University spokesman Ray Betzner says initial reports indicate a failed connector caused a fifth-floor beam to fall to the fourth floor. He says an investigation is underway.
Betzner describes the building as a science center that has been under construction for about a year. It's scheduled to open in fall 2014.
Davison says firefighters rescued several workers who were stuck on the upper floors.
