Pilots at American Airlines Group Inc., who are unhappy
with management's contract proposals, will decide by Saturday whether to make a
counter proposal or take the dispute to binding arbitration, the pilots' union
said Thursday.
The union said the company's initial proposals were
"seriously lacking." Pilots want profit sharing, like those of other
major airlines, including Delta.
They also object to American's plans to add seats to
certain regional jets that would give more work to competitor regional airlines
where pilots earn less.
American flight attendants voted down a tentative
contract agreement Sunday. American is the merged American Airlines and US
Airways and the dominant carrier at Philadelphia.
