H.B. McClure Co. is becoming a big fish in the mechanical
services pond, having just completed its 10th acquisition since 2010 with the
purchase of Green Mechanical LLC in Upper Allen Township.
But the Harrisburg-based mechanical contractor is not
just making acquisitions for the sake of making them, said Jeri Donadee, the
company's vice president. Any additions have to be the right fit for the
employee-owned company.
"Being big is good, but we view these as
enhancements. It gives us economy of scale," he said.
Many of H.B. McClure's recent deals have allowed the
company to add more skilled technicians within its current midstate footprint.
Others have allowed the company to expand into new territories or broaden its
service offerings.
Founded in 2007, Green Mechanical is a four-person
company that specializes in servicing and installing commercial and residential
systems.
"It helps us serve their clients and ours
better," Donadee said of the Cumberland County acquisition, announced
today. "We can make them more efficient and we can support them
better."
Matt Kiker, the former owner of Green Mechanical and now
an adviser with H.B. McClure, said this was an opportunity to join a large
reputable company with similar values on customer service.
"I knew all my employees would be happy because they
are an employee-owned company," he said. "When you know your
employees are going to be taken care of and also be part owners, it's a win-win
for everyone."
The deal with Green brings H.B. McClure to 408 employees
and a fleet of 243 vehicles working out of Harrisburg, Harleysville and York.
The company projects annual revenue of more than $75 million.
It finished with $65.4 million in 2014.
Acquisition terms were not disclosed.
