Hogg Construction announces leadership changes, including president's retirement

James Hogg, the longtime leader of Springettsbury Township-based Hogg Construction Inc., has retired after nearly 40 years with the company.

Hogg, who started in the family business in 1977, assumed ownership from his father, Harold Hogg, in 1995. His last day was June 4.

During his time as president, Hogg Construction completed more than 1,250 construction projects. Strong customer service, quality work, fair prices and projects done on-time or ahead of schedule were always his focus, the company said.

Matt Twomey, the former president and COO at High Construction Co., has been hired to lead Hogg Construction, which was acquired by Pittsburgh-based Massaro Construction Group in January 2014.

"Under Jim's leadership, Hogg has continued to be a major player in this marketplace," said Joe Massaro III, president of Massaro Construction Group. "Hogg Construction has earned the loyalty of its customers because its workforce embodies the values of its leader — hard work, honesty, quality and fairness."

Massaro was No. 335 on Engineering News-Record's Top 400 Contractors list with $174 million in revenue last year.

Hogg Construction, a general contractor with a Maryland office, was founded in 1952. The focus then was single-family homes before it expanded into commercial, industrial, institutional and retail markets.

Harold Hogg died last year at the age of 86.
