The hoisting of the last steel beam in a construction
project at Moravian Village of Bethlehem highlighted the progress made so far
on a $4 million expansion.
The older adult community hosted a ceremony on New Year’s
Eve where residents, staff and construction workers signed a steel beam that
was hoisted at noon.
The project is set to be finished in the spring.
Alvin H. Butz Inc.
of Allentown is building a bistro and health care delivery kitchen for the
continuing care and retirement community. The bistro and kitchen is part of
a larger project that includes a new performing arts center.
The bistro, yet to be named, is designed to accommodate
about 50 people, including wheelchair occupants, and will adhere to Americans
with Disabilities Act requirements.
The new venue will offer an informal dining atmosphere
and will be available to all Moravian Village residents and guests. Once the
performing arts center is completed, the venue also will be used as the
receiving area for events.
The kitchen is designed to serve the health care center
residents in their rooms or in the dining rooms. The service-style meal delivery
will serve personal care residents, apartment residents and cottage residents.
Hemmler + Camayd Architects of Scranton designed the
project.
