More time to comment on Bucks waste treatment plant

FALLS TOWNSHIP Members of the public will have extra time to comment on a proposed hazardous waste treatment facility that would be built in a Falls Township industrial complex.

The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection has extended the deadline for comments to Jan. 9. The change was made following a Dec. 10 public meeting at which people requested more time to submit comments. The original deadline was Friday.

Elcon Recycling Services wants to build a liquid hazardous waste treatment facility in the Keystone Industrial Port Complex. It would receive refuse from the chemical and pharmaceutical industries.

The public may send written comments to Hazardous Waste Facility Siting Team Leader, DEP Southeast Regional Office, 2 E. Main St., Norristown, Pa. 19401. Electronic comments may be submitted via e-mail to RA-Hazwaste@pa.gov, with Elcon noted in the subject line.

Copies of the application are available for review by appointment at DEP's Southeast Regional Office by calling 484-250-5910. - Ben Finley
