Construction finishes on $5M Lehigh County logistics center

Construction is now complete on plastic manufacturer Palram Americas' $5 million logistics center in Weisenberg Township near Kutztown.

The 80,000-square-foot facility is used as a warehouse and to distribute the company’s polycarbonate, polyvinyl chloride (PVC) sheets and other products.

Serfass Construction Co. of North Whitehall Township completed the construction for the first of two parts of the project, said Matthias Fenstermacher, vice president of Serfass.

The second part includes an adjacent pad that’s also 80,000 square feet. This site is proposed for manufacturing/office space for Palram Americas, Fenstermacher said.

“It was an interesting project because we got halted because of the winter,” he said.

Serfass broke ground on the project, which sits on about 12 acres, in November 2013.

The logistics center is at 9735 Commerce Circle, next to Palram America’s existing headquarters, near Exit 45 off Interstate 78.

Palram Americas and its parent company, Palram Industries, operate a global network of manufacturing, warehousing, distribution and sales facilities.

The company opened its polycarbonate plant in 2000 and built two large additions to this original plant. In 2007, Palram built an entire PVC manufacturing facility at the site.
