Kinsley Construction Inc. is part of a team building a
massive Poconos indoor and outdoor waterpark and resort.
The York Township-based company’s manufacturing division
has a $15 million contract to help build the $230 million, 150-acre Kalahari
Resorts and Conventions location in Monroe County.
Kinsley will be doing structural steel fabrication, steel
erection and hollow core plank installation, according to Bob Chenault, general
manager of the manufacturing division. The company has been working with the
project since March and expects its portion to be done this winter.
Kinsley is signed for the first phase of the two-phase
construction project. The first phase is expected to be complete when the
resort opens in summer 2015.
Chenault, however, said Kalahari already has approached
Kinsley informally about working on the second phase of the project as well.
The resort is planned as both an indoor and outdoor
waterpark, with part of the planned 100,000-square-foot indoor waterpark
opening in the first phase along with a hotel, convention and conference space
and restaurants.
