Cooper and Kennedy health systems building $2M heart center

Two South Jersey health systems are teaming up to expand heart-care services in Gloucester County, N.J.

Camden-based Cooper University Health Care and Kennedy Health System said Thursday they are planning to open a cardiac catheterization laboratory at Kennedy University Hospital in Washington Township.

The Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory at The Kennedy Heart Center is scheduled to begin seeing patients in early November.

Construction and equipment costs for the center on Hurffville-Cross Keys Road are projected to be nearly $2 million.

Dr. Brian J. Corbett, a Cooper cardiologist, said the cath lab will allow the health systems to offer patients in Gloucester County a variety of diagnostic and therapeutic services close to their home.
