The Welcome Center at Harrisburg Area Community College’s
Lancaster Campus is undergoing a $2 million renovation.
Work will include updating the entrance, lobby and
bathrooms, widening hallways and repositioning student-affairs offices.
For instance, various enrollment offices will be combined in
one shared space.
Counseling, advising, career services and disability
services offices will be combined in another shared space.
“When the project is completed (in March), students will
find increased convenience and cohesive service flow,” said Jackie Bareuther,
dean of student affairs and enrollment manager for the campus.
The project also will add a Pennsylvania State Employees
Credit Union branch to the lobby.
Helping to fund the Welcome Center project is a $470,000
gift from the nonprofit HACC Foundation.
The Lancaster campus venture is among 13 projects across the
HACC system sharing a total of nearly $1.1 million in support from the
foundation.
The Welcome Center is in the campus' main building, which
opened in August 2001.
The campus is expected to have an enrollment of 4,200
students this fall.
