Good Samaritan Health System in Lebanon has selected an
architect and construction manager for its $13 million Sechler Family Cancer
Center, which was announced in May.
The 21,000-square-foot, single-story facility will provide
chemotherapy, infusion therapy and the latest radiation treatment in one
location. It will also house physician offices, laboratory services, a
pharmacy, social worker, dietician and spiritual center.
South Lebanon Township-based Arthur Funk & Sons Inc. will serve as construction manager on
the project, while Manheim Township-based Beers & Hoffman Ltd. Architects
is designing it.
Good Samaritan plans to break ground on construction this
fall and open the center at the end of 2015.
A typical cancer patient requires an average of 80 visits to
cover a variety of treatment and diagnosis services. Integrated cancer centers
have been determined by industry experts to be the best option for reducing
unnecessary travel and appointments for patients while also enabling a higher
level of collaboration with physicians and clinical teams.
The cancer center project will create 75 permanent jobs,
according to Good Samaritan. The center is expected to have an annual $3
million impact on the regional economy.
