The Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry
announced that it has $1 million in JOBS1st PA grants to improve and enhance
existing apprenticeship programs in the state.
DLI spokeswoman Sara Goulet said the money will be
distributed to businesses and organizations running apprentice programs in
high-priority occupations, including auto service technicians, electricians,
carpenters, construction laborers, plumbers, pipefitters and steamfitters,
maintenance workers, welders and other skilled jobs.
She said there are numerous companies and organizations
in the Greater Lehigh Valley that would qualify for the grants.
