The Philadelphia Housing Authority hired Domus Inc. to
handle a $20.9 million contract for the redevelopment of an apartment
community.
The Philadelphia contractor will oversee the first phase of
the Blumberg apartment rehabilitation project. Domus will be responsible for
renovating an apartment tower that houses seniors, constructing 57 rental homes
on an adjacent vacant parcel and designing new streets in the Sharswood
neighborhood.
As part of that work, two existing towers will be razed but
no date has been set for that since the agency is awaiting approval from the
Department of Housing and Urban Development.
PHA also awarded contracts for construction management to:
JD Bravo Co. Inc., Allied Construction, Bittenbender Construction,
Constructionomics/BFW Group, Milestone Construction, Noble Strategy, and
Perryman Building Co.
PHA said it plans to spend $15 million over three years on
various projects in which these firms will be involved.
