Ambler's quest for a grocery store pays off

Bottom Dollar Food plans to open the Ambler store on Oct. 31, bringing food and 45 jobs to the Montgomery County town.

The community has been pushing for a store for some time.

“Right now, we don’t have a grocery store in Ambler. This Bottom Dollar Food will help to keep Ambler a walking community, which is what has attracted so many people to live here,” said Ambler Mayor Bud Wahl. “Our community has been waiting for the store and could not be more excited. We welcome Bottom Dollar Food to Ambler.”

It’s one of two stores the Salisbury, N.C.-based Bottom Dollar will open on Halloween.

The other is in Germantown (6301 Chew Ave.).

With the two openings, the discount grocery chain will have 62 stores, including 43 in the Philadelphia-South Jersey market. Other stores are in Ohio.

The stores average 18,000 square feet.
