Crews working for Toll Bros. have begun performing
geo-technical work at Jewelers Row in preparation for the 16-story condo tower
the developer hopes to build on the east Sansom Street shopping enclave.
The crews are boring into the soil behind plastic barricades
erected in the street in front of five buildings the developer has targeted for
demolition, Tim Spreitzer, a spokesman for Toll's City Living division, said in
an email on Tuesday, adding that barricades will be gone by the end of the
week.
Karen Guss, a spokeswoman for the city Department of
Licenses and Inspections, said the geo-technical work is not connected to
Toll's demolition-permit application.
