Five midstate contractors make ENR's top 400 list

Five of the midstate's largest general contractors made the list this year of top 400 contractors put together by trade publication Engineering News-Record, or ENR.

The magazine ranks firms based on total revenue.

York Township-based Kinsley Construction Inc. was the top local firm. Kinsley came in at No. 172 with revenue of $410.7 million in 2015. Kinsley was No. 169 last year with $393.5 million in 2014 revenue.

Lancaster-based Wohlsen Construction Co. jumped up to 80 spots on the list to No. 223 with revenue of $313.2 million. Last year, Wohlsen was No. 303 with $198 million in revenue.

Harrisburg-based Quandel Enterprises Inc. fell to No. 257 with $269.7 million, down from No. 200 and $324.8 million in revenue.

Harrisburg-based Alexander Building Construction Co.’s parent company, Butz Enterprises Inc., which is headquartered in Allentown, came in at No. 329 with $205.4 million in revenue. Last year, Butz was No. 219 with $290.5 million in revenue.

Carroll Township-based Lobar Inc. rounded out the local names by coming in at No. 377 with $174.4 million in revenue. Lobar was not on the ENR list last year.

Missing from the list was Manchester Township-based Wagman Inc.

Wagman was No. 349 on the ENR list last year with $162.2 million in revenue. The company posted $211.5 million in revenue last year, according to Business Journal records, which would have been good enough for No. 322 on this year's ENR list.
