August is the expected completion date for the $1.6
million redevelopment of a former Carlisle Tire & Wheel property on North
College Street in Carlisle, according to the project's developer, Wheelhouse
Properties LLC.
The project will feature 16 high-end apartments that will
be a mix of one- and two-bedroom units with full-length windows. Rental prices
are still being finalized.
The developers are marketing 8,000 square feet on the
first floor of the 20,000-square-foot, three-story building for a commercial
tenant. Initial ideas for the space include a restaurant, brewery, retail or an
events space, but the owners are open to suggestions.
"With all the exposed brick, large windows and our
open adjacent parking lot, the first floor offers tons of potential for all
kinds of prospective tenants," said Amanda Garner, a partner in
Carlisle-based Wheelhouse Properties.
Her husband's company, Creative Building Concepts &
Property Management LLC, which is part of the Wheelhouse ownership team, is
serving as general contractor on the redevelopment project.
Wheelhouse bought the property last year and began
demolition. Construction has accelerated over the past two months, Garner said.
Cumberland Area Economic Development Corp. provided a
$158,000 loan through its Cumberland Revolving Energy Loan Fund to assist with
energy-efficiency upgrades that are part of the retrofit.
