Crest Manor in Willow Grove to be redeveloped

Crest Manor, an affordable housing community constructed in 1963, will undergo a $17.7 million top-to-bottom redevelopment.

The complex at 2231 Hamilton Ave. in Willow Grove, Pa., has 40 subsidized apartments and duplexes.

The project will involve gutting 30 twin units, tearing down 10 of the twin units and building 16 new units, as well as a new community building and maintenance building. The interiors and exteriors of each unit will be upgraded and there will also be additional units designed for those with physical disabilities.

Once the project is done, it will have 46 twin and apartment units ranging from one- to five bedrooms.

Work is expected to begin Tuesday following a scheduled ground breaking ceremony.

The property is owned by the Montgomery County Housing Authority and Pennrose Properties has been hired to do the work.
