HANOVER, N.J. (AP) — A five-ton generator fell from a
crane at a construction site in northern New Jersey, killing two workers.
Hanover Mayor Ronald Francioli said that a strap on a
crane lowering the generator at an under construction firehouse snapped
Thursday morning.
Morris County prosecutor's office Executive Captain
Richard Rose says the first man died at the scene, while the second died later
at a hospital.
Francioli says that man suffered a collapsed lung, broken
rib cage and leg injuries.
OSHA spokeswoman Lenore Uddyback-Forston says that an
inspector was dispatched to the work site to investigate after the fatal
accident.
The work site is the future home of the Whippany Fire
Company.
A spokesman for county prosecutors says the accident is
under investigation.
