Bart Blatstein will likely be responsible for
redeveloping another Atlantic City property, meaning the Philadelphia developer
is putting his stamp on the struggling Shore town with at least three different
projects: The Playground at the former Pier Shops at Caesars, the impending
overhaul of the vacant Showboat casino, and now, the redevelopment of the storm
damaged Garden Pier.
Multiple reports indicate the Atlantic City's council
members will name Blatstein's Tower Investments as the redeveloper of the pier,
which is across from the Showboat and home to the Atlantic City Historical
Museum.
Philly.com said once city
council votes Wednesday afternoon, Blatstein will have 90 days to finalize a
deal for the pier's redevelopment.
His interest in yet another Atlantic City property is not
a huge surprise as Blatstein previously told the Philadelphia Business Journal
he is betting on the city having a bright
future.
Along with the reimagined Pier Shops, Blastein recently closed the $23 million purchase of
the shuttered Showboat. He has yet to reveal his plans for the
huge boardwalk property, although he has said he is considering a variety of
options.
