Temple trustees to talk about a new stadium

Temple University's board of trustees on Tuesday afternoon are expected to discuss whether to take the next steps in building an on-campus football stadium.

Chief spokesman Ray Betzner said the next steps would be conducting a feasibility study and moving forward with preliminary designs. It's not known whether there will be a vote, but discussion on the items is anticipated, he said.

If approved, the university would continue to discuss the the plan with neighbors, he said. The plan has faced some community opposition and questions remain about parking, traffic and other issues.

University officials said earlier this year that they were close to lining up funding for the $100 million, 35,000-seat stadium targeted for the northwest corner of campus.

The team currently plays at Lincoln Financial Field and has an agreement there through 2017.
