Mayor-elect Jim Kenney has tapped a city leader during Ed
Rendell's time in the Mayor's Office to serve as the city's first Director of
Planning and Development – a new position voters added to the cabinet in
November.
In the newly created with the city, Anne Fadullon will
oversee Division of Zoning and Planning, the Division of Development Services
and the Division of Housing and Community Development.
Fadullon has worked at Dale Corp. for the last 15 years,
and has administered more than 125 residential and commercial development
projects. Prior to her position as director of development with the Glenside,
Pa.-based construction management firm, Fadullon served as the director of
development at the Redevelopment Authority under then-Mayor Ed Rendell.
"Anne's diverse accomplishments in both public and
private-sector development make her the ideal choice to be the Director of
Planning and Development," Kenney said in a statement. "I’m confident
that her nearly three decades of experience in city planning, real estate
development, legislative policy, project financing and overall project management
will create the cross-department coordination that is much needed in this area
of the City."
Fadullon, who was the first female president of the
Philadelphia Building Industry Association, added: "It's an exciting
opportunity to bring our housing and development departments in closer
cooperation. I'm confident this new cabinet will help us fulfill our first and
foremost obligation to our citizens and city employees: creating an efficient
and effective government."
This is one of just a few positions that remained to be
filled by Kenney, who will assume the City's highest office next month. He is
still conducting a national search for three commissioners.
