Park Towne Place comes into the 21st century

Aimco's $100 million renovation of Park Towne Place, an apartment complex that was constructed in 1959 along the Benjamin Franklin Parkway in Philadelphia, is advancing with the Denver, Colo. company so far completing one building.

It is moving on to another one and the work that it is doing aims to compete with the new apartment projects that are popping up throughout the city.

While everything is new on the inside, the faces remains intact.

You'll see looking at the gallery of photos that the interior has been totally redone, but the exterior remains as it was when constructed nearly 60 years ago – and Aimco did that on purpose.

The real estate company wanted to identify more with its location amid all of the museums along the parkway.

To that end, it has a permanent and rotating art collection throughout the complex and Aimco also has established a relationship with Moore College of Art. There's even an artist's studio.

The company has incorporated a bevy of other amenities throughout Park Towne Place, including renovating a 20,000-square-foot underground retail center that will have a small grocery, dry cleaners, hair salon and other tenants.
