Pa. construction jobs growing faster than U.S. rate

State construction jobs grew by 11,300 over the year, eclipsing national industry growth, according to September jobs data from the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.

There were 243,500 construction jobs in September in the commonwealth. That number has grown slightly over the past few months, according to the BLS.

Over the year, the industry in Pennsylvania has grown jobs by nearly 5 percent.

Nationally, construction jobs increased 205,000 from September 2014 to September 2015, or about 3.3 percent. There were about 6.4 million construction workers last month, according to the BLS.

Specialty trade contractors posted the biggest growth rates in September.
