Employee-owned building company acquires Robert G. Miller's in Hanover

Your Building Centers obtained ownership of Hanover's Robert G. Miller Quality Exterior Building Products in September, according to a news release from Robert G. Miller.

The Hanover-based company, located on West Elm Avenue, sells products and services related to decking, door hardware and siding for the house, according to its website.

Your Building Centers serves "contractors, builders, re-modelers and serious do-it-yourselfers" with building products such as windows, metal roofing and shutters, its website states.

It is 100-percent employee owned, giving each person in the company an equal share in the risks and rewards associated with being in business, said Phil Skarada, president of Your Building Centers.

Employees are a part of Your Building Centers employee stock ownership plan and automatically accumulate stock in the company, he said.

The employees at the current Robert G. Miller business will gradually become Your Building Centers employees. They will receive and allocate stock in the company after they meet a one-year eligibility requirement, Skarada said.

"We're not changing job positions," he said. "If anything, we want to grow the business."

Your Building Centers has 14 branches across central and western Pennsylvania, excluding its new Hanover location. Its desire to expand brought it to the area, the release states.

Although Your Building Centers has taken ownership of Robert G. Miller, its name and its products will not change, according to the release.

The current owners of Robert G. Miller, Stewart "Butch" Bailey and R. Scott Miller, plan to continue their involvement with operations in the upcoming years, the news release states.
