The craft beer brewing industry continues to see strong
growth throughout the Greater Lehigh Valley as evidenced by one of the newest
expansions and second locations announced.
Chatty Monks Brewing Co., a small-batch craft brewery and
restaurant in West Reading, is preparing for expansion after opening in June
2014.
It will open a second, larger location next year in
Phoenixville, in addition to expanding its existing space with second-floor
seating. The new brewery and restaurant in Phoenixville will occupy the
long-vacant 13,000-square-foot space, previously the home of Superior Beverage
Co.
With plans to open in spring 2016, the Chatty Monks team
is working with high-end designers, artists and experienced consultants and
plans to have about 250 seats in the restaurant.
Aside from the larger seating area in the new
Phoenixville space, the new brewing system will allow the Monks to brew more
beer for distribution, events and their pub.
“The new brewery will have a 15-barrel system with 30-
and 15-barrel fermenting tanks,” Norm Eaton, co-owner and master brewer, said
in a statement. “Our current setup has a three-barrel system, so I’m excited to
see the improvement and higher yield in action.”
