Philly.com employees voted Wednesday to ratify a new
two-year contract between its union and Philadelphia Media Network, which also
owns The Inquirer and the Philadelphia Daily News.
The 30-1 vote follows a Tuesday vote by employees of the
two newspapers ratifying a separate two-year deal with the company.
The new contract provides a five-step wage scale for
Philly.com employees depending on their role. They had no scale previously. The
contract also implements seniority protections, in line with agreement by the
newspaper employees to allow management some flexibility in deciding layoffs.
Philly.com employees had no seniority protections before the agreement.
