Cedar Realty Trust, owner and developer of Trexler Plaza
and Trexler Mall shopping centers in Lower Macungie Township, is developing a
center of retail spaces behind Applebee’s restaurant on the same property that
includes space for a credit union to expand.
Jeffrey Albert, president and CEO of People First Federal
Credit Union of Allentown, said his firm will relocate from its existing spot
in Trexler Mall Shopping Center to a space in the new center once it’s built.
The new location provides a drive-thru space, more
interior room for employees and greater visibility, Albert said.
Semmel Excavating Inc. of Lower Macungie Township is
doing the site work, and Ames Construction of Ephrata is the general contractor
for the project.
“We are hoping to have it wrapped up by mid- to the end
of August with the shell of the building,” said Dewey Yoder, project manager of
Ames Construction. “We do have bids for the inside.”
The company is working on the shell of the building, he
added.
Space on one side of the 12,000-square-foot center is for
a credit union, the middle space is for a nail salon, and on the end is space
for a tenant that has not yet signed a lease, Yoder said. It could be a
restaurant, he added.
He declined to disclose construction costs.
Permits were issued in January, according to the
township.
